Background

Chris grew up on a grain farm near Toowoomba in Queensland, Australia

It was here he begun his riding career on a naughty pony called Clancy he got for his 3rd birthday. When he was 6 Chris was given a pony called Spice who was to

really kick-start his eventing career. While his older brother, Karl, now a professional campdrafting and cutting rider, was out helping muster cattle, Chris was busy building jumps using bricks and broomsticks for Spice to jump.

In 1994 Chris did his first EFA event on  Just Joshin. Shortly after Chris started riding his first real super star, Deo Juvante . ‘Deo’ and Chris rose through to 4**** and from here Chris has not looked back.

Hi Burto. We’ve really enjoyed following you and your horses on the road to London. There have being plenty of impressive reports on the net and in magazines about your amazing achivements in places we only dream about but the reports I have enjoyed the most are the ones I get from your Mum when I call her to give her news on your old mate Deo.

You, Leni and the rest of the Australian Eventing team kept Fiona, me and a few million other Aussies up all night earlier in the week and when you crossed the finish line after riding the perfect cross country round we, like many others thought that team gold was a possibilty and a medal was a certainty. We could not belive what unfolded over the next few hours. The next day we felt for you as your show jumping round didn’t go to plan.

What amazed us most was that after such a roller coaster of a three day event you were still smiling and looking like you were enjoying the ride and the Olympic experience.

Congratulations on doing such a great job at representing your country. Your a great Australian. Were looking foward to following you in future events and I’m sure more success.

What more can I say.Bring on RIO AUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE BURTO BURTO BURTO.

    Bye for now

    Hi Burto,
How time flies. It seems like yesterday we were watching you go clear in London. We haven’t talked for a while but I did manage to catch up with your Mum the other day and we had a great chat. The results you have achieved in recent times have been amazing and its fantastic to see you on the Olympic team again.

I’m not quite sure of the time table and draw but you can be rest assured the that the Barrett House Hold will be up and barracking for Burto and Santano 11 along with the rest of your Aussie fans regardless of where the sun is shining.

    Best of luck Burto

    The Barrett Family.
